Bill Owen (1942-2013) - Renowned artist and member of the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America, founded The Arizona Cowpuncher's Scholarship Organization, Inc. in 1995. Bill and ACSO were dedicated to raising monies in order to provide scholarships to young people of the Arizona ranching community, allowing them to further their education beyond high school graduation.
After Bill's passing, the Board of Directors voted to change the organization name to honor Bill and the legacy he has left behind for generations to come. Welcome to the website of Bill Owen, Cowboy Artist, Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. It is our hope that you will enjoy learning "All About BOCA" and join the many people who helped Bill's dream become a reality.

This week the Bill Owen Cowboy Artist Scholarship board and the Arizona ranching industry lost a legend when Dr Jim Lytle passed. For over 4 decades Dr Lytle has served the ranching community in our state with a level of tireless dedication that has earned the appreciation and respect of several generations of ranchers, cowboys and horsemen in Arizona. He truly loved his work. Every customer, every ranch and every cowboy was important to him. He was one of a kind and those that knew him were proud to call him a friend. Our thoughts and prayers are for his family this week as they grieve the loss of a father and husband.
Dr Lytle’s legacy will continue in part through the Rural Vet Scholarship Fund. Dr Lytle created this scholarship out of a concern that there weren’t enough young vets coming up to replace large animal country vets like himself. He had been fundraising for this scholarship fund the last several years. The Rural Vet Scholarship and its funds are being managed by the BOCA board of which Dr Lytle was a member. The board is accepting donations for this fund on an ongoing basis and is finalizing details of the application process. Dr Lytle’s goal was to offer an annual scholarship to help pay student loans of a young large animal vet serving in rural Arizona. The BOCA board is committed to honoring Dr Lytle’s goals and vision for the Rural Vet Scholarship Fund. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you have regarding this scholarship.
